TAUNTON GAY GROUP - MEET-UPS/OTHER EVENTS
SATURDAY 16 JUNE 2024
TGG VISIT TO THE NEW COUNTY CLASSICS MOTOR MUSEUM - Taunton TA1 1LX
Something a little different for fun! We thought we'd try out Taunton's newest tourist attraction - you can find out much more about what to expect at the museum website: www.countyclassicsmotormuseum.co.uk
The museum is located in the former 'County Stores' building in the centre of town. We will meet in the reception area as you go in at 10.30am with a plan to enter the museum itself by 10.45am. The building opens at 10:00 am so you may wish to arrive early and try out the cafe whilst we wait for people to gather. On arrival, please purchase your entry tickets which are £12.00 for adults and senior citizens.
Once we have all exhausted (excuse the pun!) the museum, for those who would like we could go for lunch nearby, most likely Hideout at Castle Green. Numerous car parks are available in the town centre if driving, so get your motor running and join us for this museum meet up.
SATURDAY 22 JUNE 2024
TAUNTON GAY GROUP (TGG) AND 2BU SOMERSET - MIDSUMMER PICNIC IN THE PARK (LGBTQ+ SOCIAL)
VIVARY PARK, TAUNTON, TA1 3SX
Following a great event together last year, we’d love to invite LGBTQ+ people to another joint TGG & 2BU picnic in Taunton’s Vivary Park on Saturday 22nd June 2024 from 1-4pm.
Please bring your own food and drink, picnic blankets, folding chairs, games or whatever you need to enjoy the afternoon. We’ll aim to meet in the ‘top end’ of Vivary Park on the left hand side by the trees (facing Cricket Club/Cafe end) and will be plenty of room in the main open grassed section (where the main Taunton Pride stage area was), if people would like to play any games etc or just sit back and relax!
For under 18s:
If you are a 2BU member, please speak to a 2BU staff contact about coming along so they can organise this with you - see www.2bu-somerset.co.uk if you are not currently but would like to find out more.
Usually TGG events are for age 18+ but for this event being joint with 2BU, under 18’s are welcome but if not a 2BU member must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian please, and parents/family of LGBTQ+ people are most welcome to join us. The idea of this is to bring all age groups in the community together and bridge the gap.
Well behaved dogs are welcome, but please keep on lead and well under control as not everyone is comfortable with attention from them and there will obviously be attractive food around!
We look forward to getting together, with respect and kindness. This event is of course subject to fair weather, so we will work on a plan B should the forecast be against us. Last year sadly the weather stopped play (in August) so we're trying an earlier event, so that should we be forced to postpone, we may still have time to find a revised date before the end of summer.
Further Information:
> How to get there
The main entrance to Vivary Park is via Upper High Street, the southern entrance via Mount Street and the western entrance is by way of the wooden bridge from Wilton Lands.
See more at: https://www.somersetwestandtaunton.gov.uk/parks-and-open-spaces/large-parks-in-taunton/vivary-park/
