TAUNTON GAY GROUP EXETER PRIDE MEET UP
SATURDAY 11/05/2022: TGG does Exeter Pride day trip!
Join TGG on an outing from Taunton to Exeter Pride 2024 by train, to take part in the pride march from outside St Sidwell's Centre (Sidwell Street). The march will take us through Exeter centre to Northern Hays park (finishing approximately 1pm), where there will be live music, entertainment, stalls, bars and community information. This continues until around 5.00pm, but there is other entertainment at Exeter Phoenix till late, and plenty of bars around Gandy Street area if you wish to keep the party going. Please follow the Pride website/social media for more details and on their website: www.exeterpride.co.uk/pride-day Departure: On Saturday 11th May, we will meet in the newer main ticket entrance (opposite Great Western Hotel, platform 2 side) by 10am. We plan to catch the 10:17 train to Exeter (to Exeter CENTRAL via St Davids), so if you arrive a little late then head for the relevant platform. If you don't meet us at the station at this time but still wish to meet up in Exeter, please look out for us outside St Sidwell's Centre prior to march - we will have our TGG banner. People can also choose to go straight to the pride day site if cannot/do not wish to take part in the march. Exeter Central station is close to Northern Hays, it involves a change at Exeter St Davids but avoids a longer uphill walk! About the festival: The most up to date information at present is at the Exeter Pride Facebook Page so please visit this and the Exeter Pride website for detailed information on the day's events as it's updated. After the march, people can choose to attend the festival events in Northern Hays or do whatever they want to in Exeter throughout the day/evening and return to Taunton at their leisure (the last train back from Exeter Central is 21:10 but some of us will likely return early eve approx. 4-5pm - especially as Eurovision is on!). If you wish to book tickets in advance or check times try National Rail | Trainline | Trainsplit. Follow updates on this via the Taunton Gay Group event pages on Facebook. Is Exeter Pride for you? Exeter Pride is a smaller event compared to those such as Bristol or London, but as well as all the fun, entertainment, great atmosphere and information, do expect a lot of people, noise, queues and crowds. If you find these environments challenging, please think about whether it's for you and consider any support you may need to arrange in advance such as transport accessibility, bringing a friend or support person and letting people know where you are, making your own arrangements to keep in touch and get there and back safely. Ensure you bring your mobile phone, sun cream, water, any necessary medication, and anything else you might need for a safe enjoyable day. TGG is only an informal group of people meeting up as any other member of the public, and whilst of course we all look out for each other during the march, we are not responsible for your personal health and safety for the day.
